| The Suburbs I always loved to draw, alien environments, flying machines, and sewers. Won a blue ribbon in Kentucky Fried Chickens "I See Our Countries Goodness" national art contest. My Mother and I took a train to New York City to see my drawing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Scholastic Art & Writing gold key winner. Kent Ohio Started attending classes at Kent State University. Yes where the shootings were. Though at the time I was playing Matchbox cars in the dirt when Nixon sent in the troops. But it did show me there is a whole lot of life outside my suburban bubble. Worked with and flew airplanes at the schools airport. 1st solo flight on March 10, 1985, later earned my private pilot license, then commercial instrument pilot license. I loved to fly but grown out of the dream of being a pilot for a living. Top Gun released. Picked up a pencil and studied design. Graduated with a major in graphic design. A.D.A.M. Software, Inc. Atlanta, Georgia, 1997 - 1998 Worked with marketing, copywriters, medical illustrators and programmers to develop print and interactive media for the industry leading medical illustration developer. Concept to press for product identity, print collateral, packaging and advertising. Web site design and maintenance, icon development, interactive design and artwork production for CD ROM. Shelby Designs & Illustrates Oakland, California, 1998 - 1999 Concept, design and project management for a variety of clients. Projects include corporate identity, print collateral, packaging and web sites. Worked collectively and individually with clients and vendors on multiple projects with tight deadlines. Kirshenbaum Communications San Francisco, California, 1999 - 2001 Branding and rebranding programs, corporate identity, print collateral, advertising, web site and interactive projects for a wide range of clients. Art direction of artists, photographers, illustrators and copywriters. Varied projects from design and layout to solving complex business communication problems through highly creative solutions. Concept through completion, with heavy client interaction. nez design San Francisco, California, 2001 - present Managing and carrying through all aspects of the design process from highly conceptual storytelling to ordering x-acto blades. Work in collaboration with outside illustrators, photographers, copywriters, programmers to create a unique voice for my clients, and tell their story in clear, memorable way.
